Italian civil aviation has shattered its all-time traffic record. On Sunday, July 26, air navigation service provider ENAV managed an unprecedented 8,446 flights through Italian airspace, a volume equivalent to tracking a flight roughly every 10 seconds over a single day.
The milestone eclipses the previous peak of 8,340 flights set in July 2025, highlighting a dramatic surge in summer travel demand across the Mediterranean country. This new high represents the climax of an extraordinary month during which the 2025 record had already been broken three separate times. While company estimates suggest July 26 will remain the peak date of the year, ENAV notes that further surges in August could push those numbers even higher.
