Pope Leo XIV returned to the Vatican Wednesday evening, leaving his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo after more than three weeks, beginning on July 5th. Before the car departed for Rome, the Pontiff extended a warm welcome to the congregated faithful outside the Apostolic Palace and blessed a number of children. However, this will be a "see you soon": the Holy Father will return to Castel Gandolfo on Wednesday, July 29th, to attend the "Canticle of Peace" meeting, which is sponsored by the Andrea Bocelli Foundation and the Laudato Si' Center as part of the Franciscan Order's eighth centenary celebrations. During his time in Castel Gandolfo, the Pope's regimen was interspersed by periods of prayer, reading, and physical activity, which alternated with important public appearances. In addition to the Sunday Angelus recitation, Leo XIV promoted projects with a significant social impact, such as a luncheon for 200 disadvantaged people in the papal gardens. Private visits of significant spiritual and historical importance were also held over the summer, including to the Abbey of Montecassino, the Sanctuary of the Holy Trinity of Vallepietra, and the Benedictine Monasteries of Subiaco.
