Carabinieri officers from the Caserta Provincial Command have executed a detention order against 65-year-old Andrea Autiero, a prominent figure within the Russo-Schiavone faction of the Casalesi mafia clan. The operation, coordinated by the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) under Deputy Prosecutor Michele Del Prete, neutralized severe threats to public safety across the Caserta region.Autiero, who was released from prison after serving over twenty years - much of it under the strict 41-bis prison regime - stands accused of attempted murder-for-hire and extortion. According to investigators, the mob boss had been contracted by associate Vincenzo Russo to assassinate Russo's former partner. Autiero is also linked to dynamic intimidation tactics, including gunfire targeted at a gas station owned by the Mayor of Gricignano di Aversa and a local tobacconist. The DDA detention order targeted a total of five individuals, placing Aniello De Luca, Giuseppe Severino, Giuliano Esposito, and Vincenzo Russo into custody alongside Autiero. During searches, law enforcement seized €6,000 in cash and a €1,000 check. Represented by defense attorney Cristina Mottola, the 65-year-old is currently held at the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison awaiting judicial proceedings.
