Gustav Mahler spent his summers at Toblach (in Italian, Dobbiaco) from 1908 to 1910, when he wrote his final three orchestral works in a modest hut in the woods. Gustav Mahler Music Weeks, named after him, have been conducted annually since 1981. The festival will feature renowned musicians performing symphonic and chamber music, as well as exhibitions and talks on Mahler's works and the globe. A small, refined, and internationally renowned musical event in Mahler's summer residence, the Dolomites. Gustav Mahler Music Weeks will last till September 5th. The festival began with his Seventh Symphony, played by the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland Pfalz, led by Michael Francis. Other guests include the Orelon Trio, the Korossy Quartet, pianist Valentin Magyar, and Dirk Kaftan's Beethoven Orchester Bonn, which features Jonian Ilias Kadesha on violin. Since the beginning of the Mahler Music Weeks, the festival has had the support of many regular attendees and devoted Mahler aficionados from all over the world.
