The Municipality of Rome is expanding its network of "Case dell'Acqua" (Water Houses), modern public stations providing free, quality-tested still and sparkling water. Two new kiosks were recently inaugurated, one on Viale di Valle Aurelia in the 13th District, and another inside a public park on Via Celio Caldo. These additions join 70 existing water stations across the city, with another 72 scheduled for installation by 2027.
Designed with modern amenities, each station includes built-in USB ports for device charging and is connected to a remote monitoring system to ensure real-time operation and quality control.
The environmental impact of the initiative is substantial. In 2024 alone, Rome’s water kiosks dispensed over 49 million liters of water, significantly reducing reliance on single-use plastic bottles, a practical step forward in encouraging daily sustainability and combating climate change.
