A single route narrating Saint Francis' legacy throughout six areas and over 1,500 kilometers of paths. This led to the creation of the "The Cammino di Francesco – The Path of Light" a novel Italian initiative that unites and improves the primary Franciscan itineraries of the nation, culminating in Assisi. The Cammino di Francesco, on display at Palazzo Chigi, is a fusion of the several paths inspired by the life and passage of Saint Francis of Assisi. The initiative, launched by the National Committee for the celebrations of the eighth centennial of the death of Saint Francis, aims to connect a diverse heritage of trails, presenting a coherent and shared picture of the Franciscan tradition. The itinerary spans for 1,546 kilometers and passes through Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Marche, Tuscany, and Umbria. All areas are accessible on foot and were identified based on historical and critical appraisal by the National Committee. The constant denominator is the arrival in Assisi, the spiritual core of the voyage. The project's inauguration comes just days after Pope Leo's visit to Assisi for the GO! Franciscan Youth Meeting and is part of the Franciscan celebrations. This initiative also aids tourism, as the Camino is listed on the official Italian tourism platform, Italia.it. Travelers can use the portal and dedicated app to get maps, itineraries, and other useful content to organize their journey. The official commercial for the project was also presented during the presentation. The ambassador for the initiative is Andrea Bocelli, who provided his voice to the video that was produced to promote the Camino on a global scale. The commercial, which has also been translated into English, aims to promote awareness of this new great spiritual, cultural, and sustainable itinerary around the world.
