The Demoskopika Institute forecasts that visitor flows between July and August 2026 would have resulted in a total spending of €20.4 billion in Italy. Of this, €541 million is purely due to price hikes over the previous summer: on average, €2.86 more per overnight stay and €12.50 more per stay. Based on ISTAT data, the National Consumer Price Index (NICT) increased by 2.6% annually in July 2026, the lowest rate in the previous three years. The overall picture remains positive: over the summer months, foreign tourists surged by 8.3%, while airline searches to Italy jumped by 26% compared to 2025. Italy thus confirms its position as one of the most competitive European destinations, bolstered by a better feeling of safety compared to other rival countries.
