From September 12th to 20th, 2026, Venice Glass Week will host over 200 events in Venice, Murano, and Mestre, including exhibitions, meetings, and workshops involving hundreds of Italian and international artists and designers, fostering a dialogue between the great Venetian glassmaking tradition and contemporary research. The highlight will be "Murano Illumina il Mondo" (“Murano Lights Up the World”), now in its fourth edition: from September 13th to November 1st, twelve new artist chandeliers will illuminate the Procuratie Vecchie, transforming Piazza San Marco into a modern glass art exhibition. The festival, which was founded to celebrate, support, and promote the art of glass, maintains its status as an important event for the industry, bringing together master glassmakers, galleries, and young designers with an ever-expanding international audience. The program also seeks to revive Murano's reputation as a hub of innovation rather than just a preserver of a centuries-old legacy, at a time when Italian glassmaking is facing foreign competition and the challenges of sustainable production. The program's main subjects include innovative, energy-efficient manufacturing techniques and generational transition in historic furnaces.
