The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma has unveiled its 2026/2027 programme: twelve new productions spanning opera and dance, eleven opera titles, two concert performances, seven ballets and four special events. Music Director Michele Mariotti will stage three successive inaugurations through 2028, beginning with Stravinsky. The season begins on November 27 with Stravinsky's "The Rake's Progress", which returns to Rome after nearly sixty years, conducted by Mariotti and directed by Spanish director Rafael R. Villalobos. Major worldwide personalities will take the stage at the Teatro Costanzi, including Anna Netrebko, who will perform a Bartók opera for the first time in Italy, and Cecilia Bartoli, who will celebrate a forty-year career in the same theater where she debuted. The season will conclude at the Teatro Valle with Rossini's "La Cenerentola", 210 years after the opera premiered there.
