Italdesign starts a new chapter in its history. The company, which was established in 1968 by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani and has since become one of the most recognizable names in automotive design and engineering, is being acquired by UST, a company that specializes in technological transformation and artificial intelligence, which has acquired a majority stake from Audi Group. The transaction signifies the commencement of a partnership that is intended to provide assistance to manufacturers as they navigate the increasing complexity of next-generation mobility. The partnership is based on Italdesign's competence in automotive design and engineering and UST's expertise in digital engineering, artificial intelligence, and technological transformation. "We did not invest in Italdesign solely for its capabilities. We invested because of its people, decades of experience, and remarkable reputation for converting innovative ideas into world-class products", said Vijay Padmanabhan, UST’s chief financial officer. According to Padmanabhan, the combination of their individual talents intends to establish "a platform to help shape the future of mobility", by merging Italdesign's design and engineering legacy with digital technologies and artificial intelligence.
