The Italian Somec, one of the world's leading operators specializing in turnkey construction projects, announces that its US subsidiary Fabbrica LLC has been awarded a contract for 350 Park Avenue, Vornado Realty Trust's new office tower in Midtown Manhattan. The contract awarded to Fabbrica includes the construction and installation of roughly 83,600 square meters of curtain walling for the structure. Alberto De Gobbi and Claudio Daniele founded Fabbrica in 2016, an American firm that specializes in the design and construction of high-tech and designer-led civil facades. The projects are designed specifically for some of the top architectural companies in New York and New England. The company, the Group's flagship, joined Somec in 2018 and now has its headquarters and production operations in Windsor, Connecticut, an operational headquarters in New York, and dedicated design and manufacturing facilities in Canada and Italy. Designed by international firm Foster + Partners, 350 Park Avenue will be one of the most distinctive buildings on New York’s new skyline. Standing around 448 meters tall, it will have 62 floors and four technical levels at the top, making it one of the city's highest skyscrapers. It will be around 176,500 square meters and will house over 6,000 workers. Natural light will enter through the glass windows, and the curving parts of the façade will increase the city's views and panoramas. The skyscraper will rise in one of Manhattan's most famous architectural surroundings, interacting with buildings that represent modernity, Art Deco, and traditional New York architecture, such as the Seagram Building, the Lever House, the Waldorf Astoria, and St. Bartholomew's Church. Its full development and financial consequences are scheduled to occur between 2026 and 2032.
