Venice is undergoing a striking commercial evolution, successfully blending global retail giants with deep-rooted local infrastructure renewal. Building on its 2024 launch near Rialto, Starbucks has just inaugurated a second strategic store directly inside the Santa Lucia railway station, positioned right in front of the ticket counters. Designed by architect Emiliano Passeler in partnership with Percassi, this compact 52-square-meter kiosk is tailored for the millions of fast-moving global travelers transiting through the lagoon city daily. Additionally, the iconic toy brand Lego is preparing to open its second historic center location near the Mercerie. Managed by Grandi Stazioni Retail, the railway hub has recently welcomed international icons like Adidas, Casas de las Carcasas, and Antico Vinaio, though soaring rents have simultaneously pushed out historic local vendors such as Moleskine. Despite these shifts, the station's commercial magnetism remains undeniable, fueled by 450 daily trains and nearly 30 million annual visitors. Just outside the platforms, further urban renewal is underway as the former Hotel Belle Époque prepares to make way for the fourth Italian location of the iQ Hotel chain, marking another key milestone in the city's hospitality transformation.
