The sixteenth edition of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto, an event organized by the Piedmont Region and the City of Turin, will take place in Turin from September 24 to 27. This event has become the premier platform for dialog and exchange among communities worldwide that are dedicated to sustainability. For four days, the event will bring together food system workers and officials to explore tangible ideas to provide excellent, clean, and fair food for all. The event's relevance stems mostly from its historical significance: it was founded in Bra in 1986 and has since spread to over 120 countries, with the 2026 edition coinciding with Slow Food Italy's fortieth anniversary. The chosen topic, biodiversity, is not just agricultural, but also addresses the social and cultural paradigms that pervade food, resisting standardization and monoculture. The event is also important because it focuses on the Ark of Taste, a catalog that now includes over 6,500 products from five continents, as well as the Slow Food Presidia, which protects small producers and local traditions around the world, transforming Turin into a four-day global laboratory for food and food justice discussion.
