American director Oliver Stone is heading to Ferrara for a series of events running from October 6 to 11, organized by the local municipality in collaboration with Silvia Bizio. On October 8, the University of Ferrara will award him an Honorary Master's Degree (Laurea Magistrale ad Honorem) in Education, Communication, and Digital Citizenship.
The recognition honors Stone's extraordinary cinematic legacy and his ability to use film as a critical tool to question dominant narratives. The citation praises his artistic research, his focus on mass media evolution, and the educational value of his works in fostering critical awareness. While the conferral ceremony at the Law Department's Aula Magna is closed to the public, it will be broadcast live, kicking off a rich calendar of public talks, screenings, and retrospectives.
