Two days of meetings, business, and culture to promote a slower, more sustainable tourist model that benefits local communities. On September 24 and 25, Assisi will host the 17th annual World Tourism Event (WTE), an international tourism fair for UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The event will bring together UNESCO sites, industry professionals, and international buyers from Europe and the United States, reinforcing its status as one of the premier events promoting cultural heritage. The 2026 edition honors Saint Francis' values of peace, cultural dialog, environmental conservation, and sustainability, while also honoring his eighth century death. The B2B workshop on September 24 will serve as the event's focal point, bringing together supply and demand for tourism related to World Heritage sites. In addition, on both days, the public will have free access to the exhibition area and programs celebrating UNESCO's physical and intangible cultural treasures. The objective is to foster a comprehensive tourism program that integrates UNESCO sites, hiking trails, cycle pathways, villages, and food and wine producers. This approach aims to promote a more equitable distribution of traffic and fortify the relationship between visitors, communities, and territories.
