So far this year, 21,393 migrants have landed on Italian shores. There were 48,730 during the same period last year, and 44,676 in 2024. The Ministry of the Interior revealed the data, which included landings logged as of 8:00 a.m. Tuesday. Of the nearly 21,400 migrants who have arrived in Italy in 2026, 5,424 are from Bangladesh (25.3%), as indicated by their declarations upon deboarding. The remaining migrants are from Somalia (2,540, 11.9%), Algeria (2,472, 11.6%), Sudan (1,670, 7.8%), Pakistan (1,467, 6.9%), Eritrea (1,422, 6.6%), Egypt (1,352, 6.4%), Tunisia (1,137, 5.3%), Mali (425, 2%), Nigeria (354, 1.7%), Ivory Coast (305, 1.4%), Ethiopia (303, 1.4%), Iran (301, 1.4%), South Sudan (252, 1.2%), and Guinea (252, 1.2%). A further 1,717 people (8%) come from other countries or are still undergoing identification procedures. According to data, there are 126,768 migrants in reception facilities throughout the nation, with 86,558 in reception centers, 466 in hotspots (387 in Sicily and 79 in Calabria), and 39,558 in centers managed by municipalities. Lombardy got the most migrants (13%, or 15,921 people), followed by Lazio and Emilia Romagna (9%), Sicily, Piedmont, and Campania (8%).
