From the signatures of Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo Galilei and Luigi Pirandello to diaries, notebooks, water bottles and tote bags: fragments of Italian history feature in a new stationery, merchandising and publishing collection inspired by the heritage of Italy’s State Archives. The initiative, created in conjunction with Franco Cosimo Panini Editore, introduces archive materials and testimonials into the realm of design and Made in Italy. Among the initial offerings are handwritten signatures of well-known people in Italian culture and history collected from Archives records. The catalog contains teacher diaries, travel books, binders, notebooks, and a variety of common products. The products are already accessible in roughly 1,300 stationery and bookstore locations across Italy. The program is motivated by the ambition to transform archival history into an instrument for knowledge that is accessible to a wider audience.
