Until recently, students who did not grasp a teacher's explanation or wished to dive deeper would raise their hand and, when given the opportunity, request that a specific idea be addressed again. Today, however, just 8% of students approach the teacher for clarification, because the others have discovered an alternative: two out of every three (66.6%) launch a chatbot and ask for assistance understanding. The figure comes from surveys conducted by the Studenti.it community, based on around 1,500 responses from a self-selected sample, which should be considered more as an indication than as a scientifically derived statistic. While 66.6% turn to AI, 12.8% turn to a trusted adult or private tutor, 12.6% turn to their classmates. Teachers come only after these options.
