A 62-year-old preschool teacher at a municipal daycare in Rome has been suspended following a police investigation into widespread child abuse. The court order was granted after covert surveillance uncovered a pattern of verbal degradation and physical violence targeting children as young as three years old. Carabinieri officers from the San Giovanni station initiated the probe last May after several concerned parents reported alarming behavioral shifts in their children. Investigators subsequently installed hidden cameras and audio monitors inside the classroom to verify the claims. Surveillance footage captured routine mistreatment: toddlers were yanked forcefully by their arms, slammed into chairs, and struck across the head, face, and legs. The educator now faces formal criminal charges of aggravated abuse of minors entrusted to her care.
