The Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG), the main optical telescope of the Italian astronomical community, is celebrating its 30th anniversary: three decades of scientific research, technological innovation, training, and international collaboration will be commemorated in La Palma (Canary Islands) over three days of events until September 24. The conference, titled "Thirty Years of the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo - Celebrating Past, Present, and Future of the Largest Italian Optical Telescope", brings together researchers, technicians, and institutional representatives to celebrate the TNG's discoveries and outline the prospects for astronomical research in the coming decades. Located at an altitude of around 2,400 metres on the summit of the island of San Miguel de La Palma and equipped with a 3.58-metre primary mirror, the TNG is part of the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory, one of the most important astronomical complexes in the Northern Hemisphere. Since 2005, the Galileo Galilei Foundation, Canary Islands Foundation (FGG) has maintained the facility on behalf of the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF). Some of its instruments, such SiFAP2, NICS, DOLORES, and GIANO-B, are completely Italian, while HARPS-N is the outcome of an international partnership.
