It is called Drip, it is the first sneaker designed by Demna for Gucci, and its label does not say "Made in Italy" but "Made in China". Reuters disclosed the information after verifying the shoes' provenance on the fashion house's website and at a Gucci boutique in Paris. The Drip is a slip-on mid-top made of nylon, canvas, or suede with a sock-like structure evocative of Demna's chunky shoes from Balenciaga, which will be available in stores in August as part of the Spring collection. In Europe, it costs roughly €800. A second model from the same collection, a leather slip-on, is also made in China. All other shoes available on the internet are still produced in Italy. The fashion brand further states that it chose a Chinese manufacturer because of their technological expertise and production skills for these specific designs. It also confirms that Italy remains at the heart of its production model, with no plans to relocate manufacture abroad.
