The blue economy is a key development platform for the national production system: from logistics to shipbuilding, tourism to sports, fishing to environmental technology, the sea connects businesses, regions, and knowledge, thereby contributing to the country's prosperity. This information is based on a focal report developed by the research department of SACE for the Genoa Boat Show, which commences on October 1st. The maritime economy has approximately 250,000 enterprises and 1.13 million employees, creating €80 billion in direct added value. Thanks to the linkages established with the rest of the sector, this amount rises to €225 billion, accounting for 11.4% of the total added value produced by the economy, a 3.8% increase.
