In comparison to other major European economies, Italian household wealth is increasing, albeit at a slower pace and with a more concentrated distribution among the wealthiest groups. At the end of 2025, the richest 5% of households possessed 50.2% of total net worth, while the bottom half of the population held only 7.3%. This is the picture outlined by the Fiba Foundation’s Observatory on Household Wealth. In 2025, Italian homeowners' net worth was €11,333 billion. In Germany, the total was €19,867 billion, in France €14,054 billion, and in Spain €8,484 billion. A comparison with 2015 reveals an even wider difference. In ten years, Italian family wealth has grown by 22.8%, compared to 87.3% in Germany, 56.6% in Spain, and 42% in France. As a result, Italy's proportion of total Eurozone household wealth decreased from 21.7% to 16.5%. Financial activities contributed significantly to Italy's economic growth.
