Online gambling is now the main driver of Italy’s gaming market. In 2025, total turnover reached €165.3 billion, of which €100.8 billion came through digital channels, accounting for more than 60% of the total. Betting isn't the sole driving force behind the sector; virtual casinos, skill games, and card games raised €81.2 billion, while fixed-odds betting brought in €19.1 billion. In 2026, the market continues to operate at very high levels. In May, fixed-odds betting generated €1.65 billion in turnover. Online casino wagers were almost €6.5 billion in June, with player spending of €282.7 million, up 14.2% year on year. In 2025, the digital system also recorded the opening of 6.2 million gaming accounts, and additional deposits surpassed €13.2 billion. As a result, 2026 appears to be a year of significant consolidation for digital gaming, with the internet sector currently outpacing the physical market in terms of revenue.
