Italy provides countless examples of how sustainable optimization can complement volunteer activities. One such initiative is designed to generate a positive and lasting impact on the most vulnerable by making the care of seriously ill children increasingly sustainable. This is the goal of the Casa Futuro project, supported by Entain Italia, one of the world’s largest sports betting and gaming groups, which has helped improve the energy efficiency of the headquarters of the KIM Association. KIM is a non-profit organization that has offered free residential care to children with serious illnesses and their caregivers in nations without proper medical care for the past 29 years. The initiative, which was presented in Rome yesterday, significantly reduces the facility's energy consumption and reinvests the savings in care and assistance for children and their families, thereby strengthening its social impact and establishing one of the first energy communities in the Municipality of Rome. The project includes placing solar panels on the structure and charging stations for electric vehicles, as well as introducing two new vehicles for the association's activities—one hybrid and one totally electric—purchased with the Prosolidar funding programme. These new solutions help to lower the structure's environmental impact and operational expenses, freeing up resources for welcoming and assistance services.
