Those who still have their boat in the water do not need to dry dock. The Gulf of Tigullio launches the winter sailing season on Saturday, November 7th, with the "PreWinter Championship Race", the first event of the 51st Tigullio Winter Championship. It is the first winter championship to be established in Italy, and its organiser, Franco Noceti, has been running it for 50 years. The regattas will animate the waters between Lavagna, Rapallo, and Santa Margherita Ligure for six weekends until the last race on February 13-14, 2027. The Tigullio is paving the way for a calendar covering the entire Italian peninsula. The 52nd edition of the Anzio and Nettuno Winter Championship begins the following day, November 8th, and runs for six days until March 14th, on coastal courses ranging from 10 to 25 miles, with monohulls and multihulls competing in distinct classes. The lakes are not stopping either. The Fraglia Vela organizes the Cimento Invernale (Winter Sailing Race) at Desenzano on Lake Garda, which takes place in November and January. The winter model, with only a few days concentrated on weekends, is popular among boat owners because it allows crews to train while also keeping the passion alive throughout the off-season months.
