Vatican Publishing House (Libreria Editrice Vaticana) will release The Personal Diary of Pope Francis on November 24, offering an unvarnished look into the spiritual journey of the late pontiff. Curated by Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, the volume compiles and analyzes personal notes kept by Jorge Mario Bergoglio between December 1992 and August 2024, reflecting on his papacy from March 2013 until his passing on April 21, 2025. The book will be formally introduced to international publishers at the upcoming Frankfurt Book Fair ahead of a coordinated global release in 94 countries across five languages. Penguin Random House will handle the English, Spanish, and Portuguese editions, while Editions Albin Michel will publish the French translation. "This work offers readers around the world a deeper understanding of the inner life of the Argentine Pope," said Andrea Tornielli, Editorial Director for the Vatican's Dicastery for Communication. The release aligns with broader Vatican publishing efforts to share papal writings globally, following recent works published by his successor, Pope Leo XIV (formerly Robert F. Prevost).
