It was one of the featured works in the exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York that concluded in June of last year. Raphael’s 'Young Woman with a Unicorn' will now be on display at the Must in Vimercate from October 29 to December 11. Grande Arte in Brianza—the cultural project promoted by the Costruiamo il Futuro Foundation in collaboration with Gallerie d'Italia di Intesa Sanpaolo, Galleria Borghese, the Municipality of Vimercate, and main partner Edison—takes another step forward in its pursuit of excellence by bringing a giant of art history to the region. The 'Young Woman with a Unicorn', which was shown in Lombardy for the first time, was painted between 1505 and 1506, when the artist was only 22 years old and living in Florence. This work definitively confirmed the exceptional skills of the young Raphael, who was summoned to Rome by Pope Julius II della Rovere at the end of 1508 to fresco the papal apartment, beginning with the Stanza della Segnatura and ushering in the most glorious phase of his magnificent artistic career.
