As transnational crime networks grow increasingly sophisticated, international law enforcement is striking back through expanded global cooperation. During the sixth Steering Committee meeting of the I-CAN (Interpol Cooperation Against ‘Ndrangheta) initiative in Rome, officials reviewed a banner operational period that has seen 181 syndicate associates captured across 32 countries since 2020. Co-chaired by Italian Public Security Deputy Director Prefect Raffaele Grassi and Interpol’s Harald Arm, the summit welcomed Sweden, Mexico, and the Principality of Monaco into the coalition, bringing total membership to 28 nations. Leaders emphasized that the ‘Ndrangheta operates as a high-tech, multi-billion-dollar global holding spanning 85 countries, requiring an unyielding, unified international response to track hidden assets, cut off drug trafficking routes, and safeguard the legal economy.
