Leaving the family home to your ex-spouse and paying rent while supporting your children: for many separated parents, this is the start of a financial disaster. According to Caritas estimates, Italy has around 4 million separated or divorced fathers, with 800,000 living in poverty. Every year, tens of thousands of cases are added; in 2024, there were almost 77,000 divorces. Today, there is support available that few people are aware of. The government's platform is now accepting applications for contributions equal to half the rent, up to €6,000 per year. Parents with dependent children under the age of 21, an annual income of no more than €35,000, no property within 50 kilometers, and no other housing assistance are eligible. Applications must be received by noon on October 28th.
