From the hills of South Dakota to the laboratories of Gabriele d'Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara, from the international media spotlight to the Glazer Children’s Museum in Tampa, Florida, the story of the dinosaur known as “Big John” has been extraordinary. In 2014, the United States discovered the dinosaur known as "Big John," the largest Triceratops horridus specimen ever discovered, with a skull that measures 2.5 meters in circumference and is over 6 meters in length. Professor Ruggero D'Anastasio, Professor of Anthropology in the Department of Medicine and Aging Sciences at d'Annunzio University, conducted a paleopathological study on the fossil, which was published in the prestigious journal Scientific Reports (Nature group). This study is now the focus of a major global documentary produced by Nippon Hōsō Kyōkai (NHK), Japan's leading public broadcaster.
