One of the most successful partnerships in recent Italian tennis is coming to an end. Following a first-round loss at the Shanghai Masters against American Austin Krajicek and Croatia’s Nikola Mektic, Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori announced they will part ways at the conclusion of the 2026 season. Bolelli confirmed the mutual decision, noting that both players are looking for fresh motivation after a remarkable three-year run. Since teaming up in mid-2023, the Italian duo collected 10 ATP titles together, including prestigious Masters 1000 victories at the Miami Open and the Italian Open in Rome. On the Grand Slam stage, they reached three major finals, at the Roland Garros in 2024 and back-to-back Australian Open finals in 2024 and 2025. The breakup will not be immediate, as the pair remains focused on finishing their run on a high note. They are on the verge of qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, where they reached the semifinals last year, and will also compete in Vienna, the Paris Masters, and the Davis Cup. Looking ahead to 2027, the 29-year-old Vavassori is expected to pair with former World No. 1 Marcelo Arévalo of El Salvador, while the 41-year-old veteran Bolelli plans to continue competing on tour with a new partner.
