Italy is experiencing a surge in international tourism expenditures, and beach weddings are becoming an increasingly popular segment of the global travel market. In the first eight months of 2026, international tourist spending in our country totaled €16.2 billion, a 5% increase over the same time in 2025. These findings come from the second edition of Nexi's Tourism and Incoming Watch, which was presented at the TTG Travel Experience trade event in Rimini. International spending experienced a growth rate that was more than six times greater than that of the previous year. In the first half of 2026, Italy also surpassed 65 million overnight stays, with 36.2 million Italians going on vacation. Beach weddings are one of the increasing trends, accounting for 38.7% of the worldwide destination wedding market in 2025, or around $15.7 billion out of a total of $40.6 billion. By 2034, the total sector is expected to be worth $87.3 billion. These are the topics that will be discussed at TTG Travel Experience and InOut, which will take place in Rimini from October 14 to 16, with worldwide operators and locations invited to describe tourism trends for 2027. The agenda includes discussions about short and year-round vacations, the impact of artificial intelligence on hotel and destination selection, and the relationship between tourism, events, and regional development. Religious tourism will also be addressed with the inauguration of the John Paul II Walk, a project backed by Italian and Polish representatives that focuses on destinations associated with Pope John Paul II's life and travels.
