There is now even more Italian talent on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Carlo Rambaldi, the historic master of special effects who died in 2012, now has his own star on the famous Hollywood sidewalk that brings together notable individuals from international cinema. "The Ministry of Culture and Cinecittà provided substantial support for this nomination", states Lucia Borgonzoni, Undersecretary of Culture. The positive outcome acknowledges the "Italian genius of special effects" for his "rightful place in the history of cinema". Throughout his career, the effects artist has collaborated with directors including Steven Spielberg, David Lynch, Federico Fellini, Luchino Visconti, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Marco Ferreri, Mario Bava, Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci, Pupi Avati, John Huston, Ridley Scott, Oliver Stone, and Andrej Zulawski. He has received two Academy Awards for special effects in "Alien" (1979) and "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" (1982), as well as an Oscar Special Achievement Award for visual effects in "King Kong" (1976).
