Ryanair will open a new base in Rimini in summer 2027, with two aircraft and a $200 million investment. The announcement, made on October 15 at TTG Travel Experience, includes extended links to Emilia-Romagna as well as five additional foreign destinations. Rimini, located on the Adriatic Sea and in the heart of the Romagna Riviera, has been a significant gateway to the coast for decades, thanks to its beach tourism, cultural life, and several resorts that line the coast. The new base intends to boost international ties to the city and adjacent areas while also expanding arrival alternatives from overseas. Ryanair will provide over 600,000 seats from Rimini in summer 2027, more than double the number from summer 2025, on 17 itineraries with 114 weekly flights. The new destinations will include Dublin, Memmingen, Stockholm, Tirana, and Warsaw. According to the corporation, the development will support over 500 local jobs while also attracting more visitors to the region. The investment follows Emilia-Romagna’s decision to abolish the municipal surcharge on flights. According to Ryanair, the initiative has already resulted in the launch of nine new routes in the region, over 700,000 annual passengers, and 250,000 additional seats. Regional President Michele de Pascale noted that the additional connections will boost worldwide accessibility while also benefiting local enterprises, cementing Rimini's position as a gateway to the Riviera and the Emilia-Romagna hinterland. The announcement is part of Ryanair's broader request to the Italian government to remove the tax from all national airports. According to the firm, a statewide cancellation may result in an additional $4 billion in investments, including 40 additional aircraft, over 20 million additional passengers each year, more than 250 new routes, and 15,000 employment by 2030. To celebrate the base's launch and the new connections, Ryanair has announced a promotion with fares starting at €29.99 on the company's website and app.
