Lombardia took center stage at the National Italian American Foundation’s 51st Anniversary Gala on Saturday, as political leaders, diplomats and prominent members of the Italian American community gathered at the Washington Hilton to celebrate the region’s contributions to industry, fashion, design and innovation. The event, presented by HHH – Hospital Healthcare Holdings, part of GKSD Investment Holding Group, filled the hotel’s International Ballroom for an evening honoring Italian heritage and the enduring relationship between Italy and the United States. NIAF President and CEO Robert Allegrini reflected on the Foundation’s role in maintaining ties between the two countries and connecting generations of Italian Americans. “Tonight reminded us why this work matters,” he said. “For 51 years, NIAF has stood as a bridge between Italy and the United States – between the generations who built this community and those who will carry it forward. This room, these honorees, this evening – this is the Foundation at its very best.” NIAF Chairman John Calvelli also highlighted the significance of the occasion and the contributions of the evening’s honorees. “Looking out at this room tonight, I felt both pride and purpose,” he said. “Our honorees embody everything Italian Americans have given this country. Lombardia reminded us that Italy’s story is still being written, and it is evenings like this one that give NIAF the strength to keep investing in the next generation.”
