Italy’s building systems is a crucial sector for the national economy, with a production value of 92.3 billion euros, ranking second in Europe behind Germany. It accounts for 27.3% of the construction industry’s total turnover, a share that has continued to grow even during periods of market contraction. Exports reached 23.3 billion euros in 2024, the most recent year for which data is available, representing a 31.3% increase over 2019. A sector that extends far beyond the technical and industrial dimensions, with activity spanning the entire economic and social fabric of the country, from residential buildings to workplaces. Its importance is set to increase further as the energy transition presents new challenges. In fact, building accounts for about 40% of national energy consumption, and more than 60% of Italian residential buildings were constructed before the 1980s and generally have poor energy-efficiency performance. In 2025, spending on energy services reached approximately €17 billion. Amid this profound transformation, Comoli Ferrari, a prominent Italian company in the plant engineering market, has convened the major national and international players in the sector at the Allianz MiCo in Milan, in addition to representatives of the industrial and financial world and regional and national institutions. ´
