The no. 50 AF Corse Ferrari, driven by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen, finished two places ahead of the no. 83 AF Corse car, which included Robert Kubica and official Ferrari drivers Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson. It was a challenging race for Antonio Giovinazzi, Alessandro Pier Guidi, and James Calado, which finished 15th. The opening race of the FIA WEC in Barcelona drew 55,511 spectators to the grandstands this weekend. The race began on a rain-soaked course, with all cars equipped with wet-weather tyres. In the early parts of the race, all three 499Ps made impressive comebacks, with Hanson taking second place on the first lap and Molina following in fourth. Calado, who started 14th, also jumped into the top ten. The first two hours were spent on a damp track, which progressively dried, allowing the crews to swap to slick tyres. The Ferraris then secured their positions just off the podium, with Nielsen leading and Fuoco driving the #50 vehicle to third place, 39.725 seconds behind the winner. As mentioned, the number 83 499P ended in fifth place, thanks to Ye's work in the middle of the race and Kubica's efforts in the final stages. Difficulties in the second half of the race, however, caused the number 51 car to drop out of the points, with Alessandro Pier Guidi finishing in 15th place.
