Calvin Klein, the brand that helped define American minimalism, is parting ways with Roman-born designer Veronica Leoni. On Thursday, Leoni announced her departure from the creative direction after only four seasons. Romana, who was born in 1984, trained at some of the most famous modern minimalism companies, including Jil Sander, Celine, and The Row. Her appointment was significant; she was the brand's first female creative director. She debuted during New York Fashion Week in February 2025, reintroducing Calvin Klein to the runway after a seven-year sabbatical. The debut was met with scepticism, and the luxury line suffered from a market already saturated with minimalist offers and a brand viewed as commonplace but not luxurious. The separation comes at a tough moment for PVH, the brand's owner group, which saw its revenues fall by 7% in the previous quarter. David Savman, the brand's global president, acknowledged her for her creative vision and stated that the successor would be named in due course. Leoni had paused her personal brand, Quira, to accept the role; now she could return and devote herself to it.
