For the first time in its history, the Royal Palace of Caserta, an 18th-century Bourbon house constructed by Luigi Vanvitelli and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is initiating a public sponsorship campaign. The goal is to raise more than €20 million to support 17 projects, including the Royal Palace, the Park, Piazza Carlo di Borbone, and the Carolino Aqueduct. The complex spans 1.33 million square meters and hosts over a million people each year, with operating expenditures that are impossible to cover solely with public funds. The most important project is the air conditioning of the Royal Apartments (€15.3 million), followed by the illumination of the Palace's Cannocchiale (€1.33 million) and the restoration of the historic citrus tree in the Flora Garden (€976,000). Clocks and old furnishings will also be restored, as will the Ponte di Ercole and Casina dei Ponti della Valle. "The Royal Palace preserves a heritage that belongs to all humanity", said interim Director General Antonio Tarasco, who invited corporations, organizations, and citizens to join forces. Sponsors will be able to connect their names with the projects and benefit from the tax reductions available.
