On the eve of the US Grand Prix, Kimi Antonelli paid a visit to the San Antonio Spurs and met with French star Victor Wembanyama. What stood out in the images they shot together, more than their grins, was the height gap between the two: 2.24 meters for the French basketball player and around 1.72 meters for the Mercedes driver. What was the result? A photo that surprised social media users due to the nearly half-meter difference between two talents who, in their own unique way, make speed and reflexes their professions. The meeting took place in Austin, some 127 kilometers outside San Antonio, as the Spurs prepared for their season opening against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Antonelli spoke with Wembanyama and the other players, addressing questions about Formula 1, the cars, and the speeds achieved on the circuit. In the video released by the Texan franchise on X, the Bologna native's parting greeting included a subtle hint: "See you tomorrow". A word that suggests he may return to the Frost Bank Center for the first game of the NBA season. Antonelli is no stranger to American basketball. During the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, the driver appeared in an Adidas promotional campaign alongside Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards. The ad, dubbed "The Ants", capitalized on the similarity between the basketball player's nickname, "Ant-Man", and the young Italian's surname. Outside of Formula 1 races, Antonelli watches his hometown basketball team, Virtus Bologna, and has been seen in the stands on multiple occasions.
