The exhibition "The Lens of Time" has opened in Rome at the Palazzo Piacentini. "Eyeglasses", remarked Minister Adolfo Urso, "have become an icon of Made in Italy and increasingly embody what today represents our manufacturing system, excellence, and quality around the world. They are an emblem of Italian entrepreneurship. Initially developed as a means of compensating for a visual impairment, they became a defining characteristic of fashion, esthetics, and style in Italy much earlier than in any other country. Today, they are also a technological tool that can help, inform, or monitor our health". The exhibition, divided into five sections, traces the evolution of eyeglasses from their origins to the present day, exploring their function in vision correction, their relationship with fashion and design, and the evolution of the Italian eyewear industry. One section is dedicated to cinema: the exhibition uses famous scenes from Italian and international films to show how glasses, worn by great actors and directors, have evolved over time into a distinctive element of style and identity, defining characters and narratives and leaving an impression on the collective imagination. The exhibition "The Lens of Time" will be open until October 30th.
