Aurelio De Laurentiis is not considering appointing an American to oversee Napoli for the time being. But Matt Rizzetta, an Italian-American entrepreneur who wants to bring the city's major sports clubs together under a single banner, has approached the club's president. "Matt Rizzetta asked if I wanted to sell, and I said no", De Laurentiis told Radio Kiss Kiss. However, he then offered a glimmer of hope: "If I were to sell, I would prefer to give it to a Neapolitan, not an American". Born in New York in 1982 to an Italian family, Rizzetta built his career in public relations and marketing, founding the N6A agency in 2010. In 2022, he acquired Campobasso, helping the club climb back to Serie C. In 2025, he purchased a 67% stake in Napoli Basket. He plans to create a multi-sports club similar to Real Madrid and Barcelona, including football, basketball, and other sports. The consortium associated with Rizzetta reportedly values Napoli at around €1.3 billion, a figure well below the expectations of the club’s owner. "Years ago, I turned down €3.5 billion from the Arabs", De Laurentiis stated, underscoring his expectations. According to him, Napoli's value extends beyond its sporting performances to encompass a brand with millions of supporters and the expansion possibilities connected with its infrastructure. "I want to build a new stadium", he said, confirming his plans to speed up the search for property for a new venue and a company-owned training center.
