Swedish tennis heavyweight Magnus Norman will join Simone Vagnozzi as Jannik Sinner’s new "super coach," replacing Darren Cahill, who is stepping down to spend more time with his family. According to the British newspaper The Times, Norman's integration into the team has already been fully coordinated and approved by Vagnozzi.
A former world No. 2 and the 2000 Italian Open champion, Norman transitioned into a highly respected coaching career by founding the elite "Good to Great" tennis academy in Sweden, which has hosted top-tier talents like Grigor Dimitrov.
His coaching masterpiece remains his long-standing partnership with Stan Wawrinka. Under Norman’s guidance from 2013 to late 2020 - and again starting in late 2022 - Wawrinka experienced the most successful years of his career. Together, they captured three Grand Slam titles, achieving a remarkable statistical feat: in all three finals, Wawrinka defeated the reigning world No. 1. He took down Rafael Nadal at the 2014 Australian Open, followed by victories over Novak Djokovic at the 2015 French Open and the 2016 US Open. During that dominant stretch, Norman also guided the Swiss star to five consecutive ATP Finals qualifications and three straight semifinals, bringing a proven championship mentality to Sinner’s camp.
