From the Milan Chamber of Commerce the map of Italian fashion in the world

(September 6, 2017) Made in Italy fashion in the world? To know where it goes, what are the major markets and where the Italian export starts from, here comes "Italian fashion in the world", realized by the Chamber of Commerce of Milan in collaboration with Promos, its special company for international activities. The map, available in Italian and English, can be downloaded from the Promos website at the link http://www.promos-milano.it/Informazione/Note-Settoriali/Dove-Va-La-Moda-Italiana-Nel-Mondo.kl. Italian export is worth 48.6 billion: + 1.2% over the previous year in clothing, accessories and footwear. In particular, in 2016, exports of shirts, T-shirts and underwear (+ 6.1%) grew by 3.2 billion euros, knitwears (+ 4.4%) with over 3 billion, footwear (+2, 4%) with 9 billion. Carpet also grew (+ 7.6%) with 166 million. The three largest Italian partners are: France (10.4% of the total), Germany (9.3%) and the United States (7.9%). Japan and South Korea (+ 8.1%), and Greece (+ 6%), are growing. Russia (+ 4.3%) is growing again. And among the top 20 destinations also appear: UK, Hong Kong and China. And if France is the main partner for clothing, and in particular for shirts, T-shirts and underwear, for knitwear, rugs and footwear, Hong Kong excels for sportswear, Germany is first for fabrics, Switzerland for bags and leather goods, the United States for household linen and fur, Romania for trimmings and buttons. These numbers emerge from the elaboration of the Milan Chamber of Commerce on Istat data, years 2016 and 2015. The major Italian exporters? Milan, Florence and Vicenza. Milan is the protagonist of Italian fashion with an eighth of the national total and a growth of + 10%. It is followed by Florence (10.2% of the total) and Vicenza (8.9%). Among the top twenty positions and growing: Piacenza (+ 8.8%), Bergamo (+ 4.7%) and Venice (+ 4.6%). (Red)


ABOUT / LOMBARDY RANKING FIRST

Lombardy, the protagonist of fashion with 12.5 billion exports, represents more than a quarter of the Italian total. In addition to Milan, leader in Italy, among the top 20 ranks are Como 7 °, Bergamo 13 °, Mantua 15 °, Varese 16 °. Lombardy by weight on the national total is distinguished in home linens, carpets, trimmings, lace and fabric, where it represents about 40%, and in knitwear and fur (about 32%). Among provinces, in addition to Milan, gold medal for clothing in general, linen, home and fur, Mantua is the first for knitwear, Como second for fabrics, Brescia and Bergamo third and fourth for yarns.
