The bandoneonist, Paolo Russo, presents some of his hits from his newest album

(September 28th, 2017) After the release of his first collection of songs in December 2015 (Bandoneon Solo Vol. I – Jazz Standards), Paolo Russo will soon present his second solo album “Bandoneon Solo Vol. II – Originals” that features his original compositions. On October 5th, the artist will present some of his new pieces to the Italian Institute of Culture of Copenhagen and will also introduce his first book – an anthology of musical scores from his new album. The Argentinian maestro of Bandoneon, Nestor Marconi, commented on Russo’s new album: “…a different perspective that enrichens and adds new challenges to the technique of bandoneon: it is a masterpiece”. CD and book are available to purchase at the IIC of Copenhagen before and after the concert. 


PIANIST, BANDEONIST, AND COMPOSER

 

Russo was born in Pescara  in 1969 and later moved to Copenhagen in 1996. He began studying the piano at the age of 9 and graduated in 1993 from the L. D’Annunzio Conservatory of Pescara. He also specialised at the Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium of Copenhagen in 2002. During the past 20 years, he has performed throughout Europe as well as in Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Japan, Thailand, Tanzania, Mozambique, Algeria, Russia, USA, Greenland, and Cuba. He also studied music in New York and Buenos Aires with the great Argentinian bandoneonist, Néstor Marconi (2004/2012). In 2001, he began studying bandoneon which he regularly plays in his recordings and live concerts.
