(October 26, 2017) Emilia Romagna's mission to South Africa is set in motion under the leadership of the Regional Councillor of Agriculture, Simona Caselli, who will be in Johannesburg until October 27th. Central to the visit is the bilateral meeting with the President of the Gauteng Province, David Makhura, accompanied by Lebogang Maile, Councilor for Agriculture and Economic Development, among others. "This was a particularly important moment that allowed for concrete implementation of a series of commitments through the collaboration agreement signed last year by President Bonaccini with this province, the most important South Africa ", stated Caselli. PM Makhura, who expressed satisfaction with the significant progress made in the implementation of the agreement, stressed that this is a virtuous and effective model of cooperation, to be taken as an example and to be followed. Gauteng and Emilia-Romagna collaborate on water management projects, the development of applied climate change meteorology services, scientific programmes between universities and the development of agricultural services and organic food chains, such as tomatoes. The collaboration will become more and more closely linked to international trade fairs and events and the 2018 preparation of the Summit with which Emilia-Romagna intends to bring together four of the most important geographical areas to which it is already tied by collaborative agreements: Gauteng, California, Hesse, and Guangdong.
