The 17th conference of the Brazilian Association of Italian Professors (ABPI) recently took place (October 23-27) at the Italian Institute of Culture of Rio de Janeiro. The biannual conference was organised in collaboration with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), the University of Sao Paulo (USP), the University of Paraná (UFPR) and the University of Salerno as well as the Italian Institutes of Culture of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo and the Italian Embassy in Brasilia. Simultaneously there was also the 11th “Incontro Internazionale degli Studi Italiani” (International Italian Studies Conference) and the 6th “Giornata Italianistica dell’America Latina” (Italian Study Day of Latin America). The theme of the conference (also commemorating the 150-year anniversary of Pirandello’s birth and the 70-year anniversary of Lampedusa’s death) was “Transiti, migrazioni e circolazioni” (Transit, migration and circulation: Italy and Italians in movement).
