The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation-Directorate General for Italians abroad and the authors of the "Italians in Europe" project have organised-February from 13th, from 15.30 to 17 at the Farnesina - the presentation of the book and the web documentary "Italians of Belgium", written in collaboration with National Geographic Italy. The authors talk about European integration from the perspective of those who have lived and currently live in Belgium, a key country for Italian immigration. They consist of individual stories from the early twentieth century until the present day. They narrate the difficult emancipation of a community born from factory workers and miners and that has now become the body of researchers, European officials, as well as diamond traders, circus artists, comic book illustrators, and ghost painters. The recount a phenomenon of exceptional proportions that continuously links the past with the future: the neighbourhoods of past Italian emigration are now inhabited by newcomers, and where Italians pass on lessons of integration learned in the years before them.
