An award for a neuroscience researcher from Bari

Giulio Pergola of the Aldo Moro University of Bari (Uniba) was awarded with the three-year European Commission "Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions Global Fellowship" for his project titled "Identification of brain developmental gene co-expression networks to understand risk for Schizophrenia ". The recruitment of Giulio Pergola, already winner of the Marie Curie grant during his research doctorate in Germany, is an example of appreciation of merit: "After this new experience abroad I hope to be able to contribute to the education of many talents in our country" says Pergola. The research will be conducted in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, one of the most prestigious universities in the United States. The study hypothesizes that genes associated with the risk of schizophrenia interact with each other during childhood and adolescence by coordinating cognitive functions such as memory and learning.
